Beloved Visual Novel Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien (Rumbling Hearts) Will Finally Be Released in English

During a livestreamed event from Japan dedicated to the Muv-Luv series, Anchor finally made an announcement that many visual novels fans have been waiting to hear for two decades. Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien is coming west.

No further information was provided during the event, but at least we know that the visual novel will be released in English Down the Line. A manga is also being considered.

If you’re not familiar with the name Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, the anime adaptation was actually localized in English with the title “Rumbling Hearts.”

The game itself was originally released for PC in 2001. It then launched over time for Dreamcast, and PlayStation 2, but it was never localized in English… until now.

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien is arguably the most well-known visual novel by Âge in Japan, while in the west the studio is likely better-known for the Muv-Luv series. That being said, many western fans have been waiting for it to come west for a long, long time.

Incidentally, it’s also pretty much the prequel of the Muv-Luv series itself, with its heroines appearing in Muv-Luv Alternative.

Here’s a brief description of Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien from VNDB:

At first, Takayuki Narumi is befriended by Mitsuki Hayase only because Mitsuki’s best friend, Haruka Suzumiya has a crush on him; however since then, Takayuki, his pal Shinji Taira, and Mitsuki have grown to be the best of friends. Then one day, Haruka confesses to Takayuki her love for him. Not wanting to hurt her feelings, Takayuki agrees to go out with her.

After a few incidents, their relationship gets intimate, even while Takayuki and Mitsuki begin to realize their feelings for each other. But suddenly, when tragedy strikes, things are never the same for these four friends again.

Incidentally, aNCHOR has announced that the development team is currently working on some sort of reboot which is still shrouded in mystery.
