Xbox Series X/S Launch Is The Largest in Xbox History

With the release of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S delivered to history, looks like the new consoles are doing quite well.

The news were shared by Xbox division head on Phil Spencer that took to Twitter to announce that in 24 hours more new console sold in more countries than ever before.

You can check out the announcement below.

It’ll be interesting to see if we’ll get more specific numbers over the next few days. Microsoft has been especially stingy in terms of info on specific units shipped or sold during the past generation, so we’ll have to wait and see.

If you’re interested in Xbox, the Xbox Series X and Series S, but don’t want to pay for them upfront, today we saw a new trailer of Xbox All Access.

Recently, we read that the two consoles are the only ones in the next-generation to fully support all the RDNA 2 capabilities revealed by AMD.

We also heard from Microsoft’s executives about their predictions for the launch of the new consoles on top of Phil Spencer’s own take.

Of course, you should also read our own review of the Series X and hear whether it’s worth a place in your entertainment cabinet.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Gets Patch Notes Before Launch

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War studio Treyarch released a list of patch notes detailing what has changed in the upcoming game launching later this week since the beta last month.

The patch notes list several modes that were not in the beta, such as Search & Destroy and Hardcore modes, alongside new weapons. Each weapon class received balancing since the beta with submachine guns less effective at long range, increased damage for light machine guns, and burst-fire pistols decreasing in range and accuracy.

Sound was improved across player footsteps, weapons, hit marker, damage feedback, and the acoustics across every map.

Sliding received the most changes with a shortened slide length, reduced slide speed, and no longer making it faster to slide out of sprinting to fire a weapon.

The studio saw players would slide out a sprint to fire a weapon rather than simply ending a sprint because it was faster during the beta, and Treyarch said the movement is fixed. The studio also noted it will continue to tune movement, spawns, sniping, and more after launch.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launches for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One on Friday, Nov. 13. Pre-loading is already available for all systems except the PlayStation 5, which will be able to do tomorrow when the console releases.

Fall Guys Season 2.5 Update Drops Today; Untitled Goose Game Skin Coming This Week

Fall Guys developer Mediatonic detailed some of the new changes in the “Season 2.5” update available for the game today on PlayStation 4 and PC.

The mid-season update of the current Season 2 adds a new round called Big Fans. The new race takes place in the sky as players hop and cross rotating fan blades. There are checkpoints for players taking their time, and slimline platforms for those that want to take the risk to secure a win.

The studio remixed classic and Season 2 rounds by adding obstacles such as falling fruit, spiky rollers, swinging scythes, and a swinging pint-sized hammer affectionately named ‘Big Yeety’ that could possibly help players launch across the map but also send them to their deaths.

The update fixes several bugs such as unfairly falling through the tiles in Hex-A-Gone, grabbing the crown without victory bug in Fall Mountain, and jump inputs not registering. Players can now choose their Server region and language in-game. Mediatonic also launched a Trello board to track other bugs and issues.

The company also announced during a Twitch stream today that Fall Guys will be receiving an Untitled Goose Game skin beginning this Friday, Nov. 13 for players to earn. Check out the goose skin in the image below along with some of the developers in their own goose costumes.

Project Wingman Gets Release Date; New Trailer Will Give You Ace Combat Vibes

Today Sector D2 and Humble Games announced the release date of the upcoming air combat game Project Wingman.

The game will release on December 1 on PC via Steam and Humble Store.

If you’re unfamiliar with Project Wingman, it was funded via a Kickstarter campaign back in 2018 and it certainly wears its Ace Combat inspiration on the sleeve.

You can check out the new trailer below and see what I mean.

Here’s how the developers themselves describe the game.

Project Wingman is a combat flight action game with an emphasis on polished and refined gameplay, true-to-its-roots inspirations, and an engaging single player experience. Perfect for those who aren’t looking for a simulator experience with the ease of pick up and play, all the way to those who want a fast-paced challenging flight action game.

Dogfight, strike, and fly through combat zones based off an alternate history of Earth. Either over the cold waters of the Bering Strait, attacking tanks in the brutal deserts of the Orient, or diving through the Redwoods to strike targets of opportunity in the Pacific Northwest, across the oceans, above the scarred lands of the world, this war will take you from exotic battlefield to exotic battlefield, all while going up against odds way above your pay grade.

Pure Combat Flight Action
Exotic weaponries such as railguns and geothermal-powered armaments will be ready to pluck you out of the sky if you’re careless. Whether you are an attack aircraft pilot, skimming the ground with a gatling gun and rocket launchers attached to your wing, or an interceptor with long range, almost sniper-like missiles at your disposal, it will be up to you to prove yourself as an Ace pilot.

Conquest Mode
In Conquest Mode, fight in an uphill battle against various bosses and ace squadrons in a territory capture game, drawing elements from roguelikes and RPGs. Players will have to earn enough money to not only upgrade their own plane, but build a mercenary army of their own in order to take on waves of increasingly difficult opposition as they struggle to take on a myriad of changing missions.

Virtual Reality
Virtual Reality headsets will work in-game to put the player in the cockpit of aerial warfare, immersing themselves in head-swiveling combat. Combine this with full compatibility with HOTAS peripherals and custom axis curves, and you will be able to experience the game however you want, using any DirectInput supported peripheral you like.

  • Fly in varied and exciting scenarios and locations unlike you’ve ever seen before
  • Engaging single player campaign
  • Over 20 different aircraft and over 40 unique weapons at your disposal
  • Fight different kinds of adversaries such as giant mechanized fortresses and railgun cannons
  • Test your skills in Conquest mode and fight against hordes of adversaries
  • Want a different Conquest experience? – Adjust it with modifiers to your liking
  • Beautiful 3D Volumetric clouds rendered with TrueSKY
  • Fully rebindable controls and HOTAS compatibility with DirectInput support
  • VR Support

If you want to see more of Project Wingman, you can check out an older trailer for more air combat action.

Netflix’s The Witcher Halts Production Due to Positive COVID-19 Tests

Netflix’s The Witcher series saw success with its first season and was quickly greenlit for a second season soon after. That second season recently resumed production in October after delays due to COVID-19, but it looks like production has been halted as there have been multiple positive COVID-19 tests and cases on the set.

As reported by Deadline, there were four positive cases on set over the weekend. While these cases do not include any members of the lead cast, everyone involved in production has been isolated and will be tested for COVID-19. Once it’s been confirmed that everyone else is safe and has not been impacted, production on the show will likely resume.

“The four positive cases are from today, we have confirmed, and Netflix will carry out an isolated round of testing of everyone involved in the show. Those impacted have been isolated and are not among lead cast, we hear.
Filming at Arborfield Studios, west of London, is due to resume once the streamer is confident that the set is fully safe.”

The Witcher series on Netflix is very loosely based on the video game series from CD Projekt Red and instead follows more closely to the books, which served as the original source material. It stars Henry Cavill as Geralt, and while the first season had a bit of a slow start, it looks like things are going to start ramping up once the second season drops.

The Witcher is now available for streaming exclusively on Netflix.

PS5 Remote Play Feature Pops Up On PS4

Sony appears to have plans to let you stream your PlayStation 5 on PlayStation 4, given that a dedicated “PS5 Remote Play” app just appeared on the older console.

It may not be available everywhere yet, since it wasn’t on my North American and European accounts yet, but it popped up after connecting to the PSN on my Japanese account, but you can try on your own PS4 consoles as well.

The app is very simple in terms of options, letting your search for a PS5 unit automatically or manually.

You can also select streaming resolution between 1080p, 720p (which appears to be the standard), and 540p.

Keep in mind that the screenshots below were captured on a PS4 Pro.

At the moment, Sony Interactive Entertainment has not made specific announcements about this app, so we’ll have to wait and see its full potential when the PS5 launches.

In case you missed it, the PS5’s standard edition will cost $499.99, €499.99, £449.99, or 49,980 yen while the Digital Edition is priced at $399.99, €399.99, £359.99, or 39,980 yen.

Take-Two CEO Digs Into Reasoning Behind Next-Gen Price Changes

Earlier today during the Take-Two Interactive Software Q2 earnings call, CEO, Strauss Zelnick expanded on the company’s thought process behind increasing the price of certain next-gen titles.

First, it’s important to note that not all Take-Two titles will be seeing the same price jump as NBA 2K21 from $60 to $70 in the US. As Zelnick stated, “…pricing is determined on a title-by-title basis.”

Zelnick continued by explaining, “…the price that we set for NBA 2K21 for next-gen reflected the fact that there hasn’t been a frontline price increase since 2005.”

Besides the fact that he brought up there, Zelnick also dug into some details on the increased cost of producing a video game, “And production costs have gone up two or three hundred percent.” Comparatively, the cost of NBA 2K21 for PS5 and Xbox Series X is increasing by slightly less than 17 percent.

Zelnick also talked about how, “…the US has the lowest pricing of frontline games anywhere on Earth.” And even at $69 per game, the US will remain lower in cost as the UK and EU pricing will be £69 and €79 respectively.

Zelnick finished his response by saying, “…we think it made sense and we believe consumers are fine with that as a result.” For now, we’ll just have to wait and see how the numbers roll in with the new price for some Take-Two next-gen games.

If you would like to check out the financial details from Take-Two’s Q2 meeting, then you can find them right here.

EA Comments on Next-Gen & EA Play Partnership With Microsoft; Undecided on Potential Price Changes

During Electronic Arts’ financial conference call for investors and analysts, chief executive officer Andrew Wilson and chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen talked about the partnership between EA Play and Xbox Game Pass and what they see coming for the next generation of consoles.

Wilson mentioned that the objective is to make sure that players can access EA play on any platform in any way that makes sense.

He added that EA has a strong partnership with Microsoft, Sony, and Steam, and they saw an opportunity to build an access point to the EA plat subscription on Microsoft’s platform.

According to Wilson, we’ll continue to see EA working to making the subscription available on any platform.

Jorgensen added that while he can’t give details on the economics of the deal with Microsoft, it obviously has a positive economic impact for EA.

“The real goal is how do we grow our subscription and also help Microsoft grow their subscription. This is a great partnership with them.

We’re in the very early days of the industry for subscription and we’re doing everything possible to help consumers understand why it’s a great potential for them to either be introduced to new games, play the games they love, or play games for a great value.

He added that EA doesn’t do anything for free, and together with Microsoft they have figured out a day to make the economics work for both. “

Speaking of free next-gen upgrades for the games, Jorgensen mentioned that in the past people have delayed purchases of titles to wait for the next-generation version.

According to Jorgensen, there will be 8-12 million next-gen consoles between now and the end of March and people will upgrade otherwise. Upgrades are being granted to let people be comfortable with buying the current-gen version for games knowing that they will be able to upgrade without any problems.

EA knows that it’ll take time for the installed base of the new consoles to grow, but it’ll bring “incredible opportunities” for the publisher to build better and better games due to the additional power.

“Where it gets really really exciting a year or two years from now because I will tell you, games are going to be unbelievable when you start to see them a year or two year from now on the new consoles.”

Jorgensen was also asked to comment on the possibility of increasing the price of next-gen games, but he clarified that EA has not decided yet.

“I don’t really want to weigh-in on that yet. We have always said games are getting more expensive. The experience is getting deeper. The time that people are playing games is getting longer.

One might argue that that might require a higher price point over time, but we’ll address that as we get closer to more games coming into the next-gen console transition.

What I default to is, let’s stay focused on what we can do with the games on the new consoles and the excitement, and price will follow that. We’ll figure that out.

I don’t want people to read into that we are going to raise prices or not. We don’t know yet. What we do know is that we’re going to be able to do a lot more things with the new consoles and our partnerships with the new console… You know, Sony and Microsoft, and others that are making the consoles.”

New Sakura Wars Game Sakura Revolution Gets New Trailers Showing Plenty of Waifus

The first trailer focuses on showing many of the characters that will stand by the heroine to rebuild the Floral Revue, the Aogashima Floral Revue and the Kyushu Floral Revue.

The second trailer showcases Prana Tosei, one of the rivals of the “Great Floral Revue B.L.A.C.K.”

If you’re unfamiliar with the game, it’s set in the 100th year of the Taishou era (71 years after the latest Sakura Wars game). Japan has been devastated by the Imperial Capital’s Great Disaster 16 years before, and it was rebuilt thanks to the energy based on spiritual power named “Mirai.”

As people all over the country are endangered, the government approves the formation of the Imperial Floral Revue B.L.A.C.K, with the goal of both protecting the people and mesmerizing them with their live performances.

While the peace created by Mirai and B.L.A.C.K. reigns, some realize that the sense of security is misleading. The new Imperial Floral Revue is formed to unveil the governments’ conspiracy and restore Japan.

“Thank you, Commissioner Salonen. Let me start by thanking my campaign staff all across the Empire. There are too many people to name, right now, but none of this would be possible without your hard work and dedication. Truly, I cannot thank you enough for helping turn our improbable dream into a reality. My love and thanks to my dedicated partner and campaign manager, Jesse. I am here now because of your belief in me. To our daughter Finley, thank you for your patience and the joy you bring me every day. I also want to thank the people of the UEE. Words fail to express the deep sense of pride and gratitude I’m feeling right now. Serving as your Imperator will be the honor of a lifetime, and I promise to dedicate myself to building a better Empire for all.

Make no mistake, I’m under no illusions that this will be easy. For years I was told that the deeply rooted political parties and corporate interests were too powerful, too entrenched, for an independent voice to be heard. Well, we sure proved them wrong and showed everyone where the true power lies in this empire — with the people!

Now that the election is over our real work can begin. Much like my campaign, I cannot do this alone. Only with your help can we reform this Empire into an institution that’s able to address the issues of the day and remain agile enough to confront the challenges ahead. My administration will focus on policies that will make this possible. Beginning with education and innovation initiatives that will lead this empire into a new age of progress, peace, and prosperity.

I know there will be people out there saying that my policy goals are impractical or even impossible. Yet my campaign is proof that when the people of the UEE come together for the common good we can make the impossible possible. For the next decade, you have chosen to let me lead the way. I promise to fully dedicate myself to the people’s cause and refuse to let fear dictate our path forward. Together we can build a better tomorrow and a stronger empire for us all. Thank you.”

It’s worth mentioning that the United Empire of Earth is not an absolute monarchy (the name “Empire” can be a bit misleading), so Imperatoe-Elect Addison will have to contend with the government in order to push her proposals forward.

In other Star Citizen news, the crowdfunding total is currently at $316,709,002 at the moment of this writing, having passed $316 million last week.

The number of registered accounts is also well over 2.8 million (currently at 2,850,871).

As usual, you should keep in mind that it’s known that not all of them are paying players. The number includes free accounts created for a variety of reasons, including free fly events.

If you want to learn more, we recently got a sizable update on the progress of the single-player campaign Squadron 42.

For the sake of full disclosure, the author of this article has been a Star Citizen backer since the original Kickstarter campaign several years ago, so you should keep that in mind while reading.
